Art

Bill has worked collaboratively with some of the world’s most recognised artists, creating original work. His work, including his unparalleled photography collection, has also been the subject of artistic interpretation and reimaginings, providing creative inspiration for other artists around the world.

Bill says...

I began to take photos when my Uncle Jack Jeffery gave me his Brownie Box Camera. I photographed interesting buildings and objects.

When I had enough money, I bought in 1965 a Nikkormat camera and a 135mm lens in Paris – which was my staple camera until I moved to digital cameras in the 2000s (owing to eyesight problems).

While in France I became friendly with the local artists and took photos of Marc Chagall for his art book, and artists Arman and Cesar, together with friends James Baldwin and André Verdet.

I also photographed everybody I met including family, friends, celebrities and musicians, and I obviously took photos of the Stones from 1966 to the year I left in 1990.

I have had photo exhibitions in San Francisco, California, Holland, Germany, France, Scotland, and England, from the 1990s to the present day.
