Bill has expressed his sadness at the passing of Bonnie Pointer, part of the original Pointer Sisters line-up, who has died aged 69.
Bonnie Pointer was part of the original Pointer Sisters, before striking out on her own to forge a solo career in 1977. She released the memorable Heaven Must Have Sent You in 1978, which reached 11 in the US music charts. She released four albums during her career, but it was her formative years as the original founder of the Pointer Sisters that was pivotal. She formed Pointers, a Pair with her sister June in 1969, paving the way for sisters Anita and Ruth to form the Pointer Sisters and sign with Atlantic Records.
Bill says:
I have fond memories of Bonnie and she will be hugely missed. She and her sister Ruth Pointer sang backup vocals on my solo album Stone Alone in 1976. Listen to one of the songs they were on with me – Soul Satisfying – as as tribute to Bonnie.
