George Jones – the legendary country music singer – passed away last Friday. He was 81, and will be greatly missed by Bill. Bill says that George Jones was the greatest country singer of all time, and his passing a time of great sorrow.

George Jones passed away from a lung condition, but he will be remembered as the greatest voice to ever grace country music. His signature song – He Stopped Loving Her Today – was a song about love and death. He recorded a string of hits and influential songs, including Why Baby Why in 1955, White Lightning in 1959, and Tender Years in 1961. These were followed by a series of top ten hits in the 1960s and 1970s.

Bill says he wanted to pay tribute to the man he considers the greatest country singer of all time:

As a tribute to him, I played a selection of his music to myself all afternoon from my iTunes collection. I have 184 songs by him.

Bill asked that as a tribute, the video of George’s live performance of She Thinks I Still Care is added below.

In remembrance of a legend.
