Bill Wyman: Greatest

Bill Wyman’s Greatest features 12 greatest hits for just £4.99 including ‘(Si, Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star’, ‘A New Fashion’ and ‘Come Back Suzanne’!

As a member of the Rolling Stones for three decades, Bill Wyman established himself among the greatest bassists in rock & roll history; in tandem with drummer Charlie Watts, he belonged to one of the most stalwart rhythm sections in popular music, perfectly complementing the theatrics of Mick Jagger and the gritty guitar leads of Keith Richards.

In 1974, Wyman became the first from their ranks to record a solo LP, the all-star Monkey Grip; two years later, he repeated the trick with Stone Alone. In 1981, Wyman scored a solo hit single with the witty dance tune "(Si Si) Je Suis un Rock Star," a song Wyman had originally written for Ian Dury; the song also appeared on his self-titled third solo album, released in 1982.

In 2015, Wyman announced he was releasing a new studio album, Back to Basics, his first collection of original songs in over two decades, in June 2015.

    1. Happy 80th Bill. Health & Hapiness to you. I once had the opportunity to shake your hand after a show at the old Metropol in Pittsburgh, PA. The only (please excuse) Stone I ever got so close to. Almost nobody showed up that day, I still don’t know why. Only that I felt such shame for our fair city that only maybe 35 people showed up. We were all in the front row!! But you and the Rhythm Kings (Two tour buses parked outside) undeterred played for over 2 hours, the full show. Respect. And the experience was so intimate, just fantastic. I’ll never forget it. A friend of mine wanted a Stones LP record sleeve signed but you refused and would not indulge him. I know why. I explained it to him. But it was funny. Thank you for your careful archives, which I treasure from time to time. Long may you Roll. You’re just the best. Thank you. Sincerely Markus (Pittsburgh, PA. USA)
